Where to pre-pay for bags


Travel agents who book through WestJet Biz, Amadeus, Travelport, Farelogix or who have booked a WestJet Vacations package, can pre-pay for their client’s first and second bags through Manage Trips on westjet.com. WestJet Agent and Sabre GDS users are able to pre-pay for their client’s bags directly in their booking systems or via Manage Trips on westjet.com.

WestJet Rewards members

If your client is a WestJet Rewards member and holds Silver, Gold or Platinum status, they are eligible for a free checked bag. Silver and Gold Rewards members receive two free checked bags and Platinum members receive up to three. Click here, to learn more and don’t forget to add their 9-digit WestJet Rewards member number to their booking so they can automatically take advantage of this benefit.

If your client books with their WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard and are the primary cardholder, they get their first checked bag free including up to eight guests on the same reservation.

Frequently asked questions

Q: In the event of a schedule change, how do I rebook my client’s pre-paid bags (EMD)?

A: Accept or rebook your new flights and reissue the e-ticket (if applicable). Your bag EMD can be refunded and reissued for the new flights.

Q: In the event of a schedule change or irregular operation (IROP), can my clients get a refund on their pre-paid bags (EMD)?

A: Yes. If your client was impacted by a qualifying schedule change or IROP, you can refund the bag EMD to the original form of payment.

Q: Should I pre-pay for my client’s baggage if they booked a WestJet Vacations package?

A: Yes. Baggage fees are not included in the WestJet Vacations package. To save, we do encourage pre-paying for your client’s baggage through Manage Trips before the 24-hour check-in window.

Q: Will I get commission on my pre-paid bag EMD?

A: We currently do not offer commissions on EMD documents.

Steps to pre-pay for baggage in Manage Trips

  • Visit westjet.com and select “Manage trips” from the menu bar. Then select “Manage flights.”
  • Enter the flight WestJet PNR/reservation code and last name of the guest. The PNR is the 6 letter/alpha code.
  • Select the “Search” button.
  • Under Upcoming trips, select the “Add bags” tab.
  • Select the “+” to add up to two chargeable bags per guest on the reservation.
  • The total price for the bags will populate and will display in the Price summary.
  • Select the “Acknowledgement checkbox” and proceed to checkout.
