Name change and correction policy
Updated May 3, 2023
Travel agents may complete self-serve name changes and corrections in Sabre, Amadeus and Travelport for 838 tickets that are wholly marketed and operated by WestJet. Name changes are not permitted on WestJet code-share and interline tickets, or flights wholly marketed and operated by WestJet that are issued on another airline’s ticket stock.
Please note that all ticket exchanges as a result of name changes or corrections will be subject to WestJet fare audit policies.
To make name changes and/or corrections for WestJet Agent bookings, please contact our Travel Support Team at 1-877-664-3205.
Name corrections are limited to the same person travelling. Penalty fees do not apply. Name corrections that do not require a waiver code include:
- Removing extra characters or adding missing characters (e.g., “Paull” should be “Paul”);
- Changing a maiden name to a married name (e.g., “Tracey Smith” should be “Tracey Stevens”);
- Making a correction if the first and last names are backwards (e.g., “Stuart John” should be “John Stuart”); and
- Changing the guest name so it matches the legal document (e.g., “Jim Smith” should be “James Smith”).
An OSI message must be generated to WestJet stating the reason for the name correction.
If the change is outside these guidelines, please contact our Travel Support Team at 1-877-664-3205 to obtain a waiver code.
Name changes are defined as a different person travelling, or if you are transferring the ticket to another guest. Applicable penalty fees apply. If a name change penalty and an itinerary change penalty are applicable at the same time, only the most restrictive penalty should be charged.
An OSI message or endorsement does not need to be generated. Simply charge the applicable fee at the time of making the name change.
